Topic: If you could have only one rig, what would it be? |

| This may have been ask before but here it goes again. Just give me a simply reply, no if, ands, or, buts. IF YOU COULD HAVE ONLY ONE STEEL AN ONE AMP TO PLAY FOR THE REST OF YOUR DAYS, WHAT WOULD IT BE (no effects allowed)? I would really like to hear from some of the older NASHVILLE CATS on this, as well as anyone else who has played and/or owned several different brands. It might not be fair to reply if any of you are obligated to a builder or company. So lets hear it. Eddie Malray |

Emmons P/P and a Fender twin with a D130. I currently have a Williams, a Fessenden, an MSA Classic SS, a Sho Bud Pro III, and two Emmons P'P's. I can't tell a lot of difference in the sound of any of them, proving to me that most of the sound is produced by the player.

I am truly fortunate in that I have two rigs which should last me a long time... my 1964 Emmons D10 and my Fessenden D10 in maple/rosewood. Both guitars are played through Evans amplifiers. For me, that's where it's at.

Thanks again for the kindest words. On the topic of that Fessy Bobbe has - I personally played that guitar in the shop and thought it had wonderful tone and an excellent feel as well. The workmanship on these steels is very individualized per guitar. They all seem to end up playing and sounding great... but that particular steel is the first one I played on here in Nashville. Don't think you could possibly go wrong with Bobbe Seymour either! 
I can't wiat until you come to town and get up with us when I am gigging so we can pick again. Perhaps you and Kenny Foy can make it some weekend??? Maybe??

Hmmm...I only have one steel now anyway. My MSA "Clasic". Sure, that's the one, although I'd like to try one of the Millenium MSA's before I made my final decision.
Amps? I have two, Mesa/Boogie (Mark II) and a Nashville 400. I like the Nashville, but if I had to take one, I agree with b0b. 'Specially since he might have built my amp.

My 1956 quad Bigsby w/6 pedals, Bigsby tone and volume pedal played thro' my early 70's Fender tw-reverb amp. No Nashville sound but certainly a lot of options for playing different styles.
In case something might break, I'd like to have at least one Rick Bakelite prewar 6 string sitting on a stand right next to me. |
