It's a well-known fact that, since Santo and Johnny broke up and Santo moved to Italy, Johnny has continued to play in the United States as "The Johnny from Santo & Johnny".
Few people realise that Santo has continued to record LPs on his own in Italy. Has anyone heard any of these recordings, and does anyone know if he's continuing to perform? I would think that a tour of the U.S. would be very well received, with or without Johnny. |

I might be tempted to travel to Italy or even the UA to see and hear Santo play live. I wouldn't go further than my front door to see a solo Johnny Farina on steel guitar. Sorry, but that's how it is. _________________ Show Pro D10 - amber (8+6), MSA D10 Legend XL Signature - redburst (9+6), Sho-Bud Pro 111 Custom (8+6), Emmons black Push-Pull D10 (8+5), Zum D10 (8x8), Hudson pedal resonator. I tend to agree, Ken.
Someone should talk Santo into joining the Forum. How come Johnny isn't already a member? |

His intonation in this clip is dreadful. Sorry, he should have stuck to playing rhythm guitar. Johnny has nothing like the dynamics or the accuracy of Santo. He has the various poses off pat, but little else. Still, I suppose it earns him a crust of bread. _________________ Show Pro D10 - amber (8+6), MSA D10 Legend XL Signature - redburst (9+6), Sho-Bud Pro 111 Custom (8+6), Emmons black Push-Pull D10 (8+5), Zum D10 (8x8), Hudson pedal resonator. What are you doing here then? Go start a Rascals post
somewhere. This is about Santo & Johnny,--not
the Rascals.

Nothing ugly there. Alan's post was about Santo & johnny - not The Rascals. Goodness only knows why they were suddenly introduced by Joachim. Wally was correct to point that out. Plain and simple. _________________ Show Pro D10 - amber (8+6), MSA D10 Legend XL Signature - redburst (9+6), Sho-Bud Pro 111 Custom (8+6), Emmons black Push-Pull D10 (8+5), Zum D10 (8x8), Hudson pedal resonator. Sorry I opened a can of worms. I never intended to. I am not at all familiar with The Rascals so perhaps they are a wonderful music/singers group that I have never heard of. However,- the subject was Santo & Johnny and I just wanted to keep the posts on them.
I apologize. Stay cool

Joachim's post simply pointed to a video of Johnny playing steel with Eddie Brigati, who just happened to be with the Rascals at one point. The main point was Johnny, not the Rascals. So I don't think it was off-topic at all, especially after a bunch of comments turned the thread squarely to Johnny. You're entitled to your opinions about Johnny, of course. But it is entirely reasonable for others to also comment or point things out if they want to.
As to Johnny's playing - I've heard better and I've heard worse. I don't really understand the kind of overwhelming negativity being expressed here. Oops - I forgot where I was. |

The purpose of my original post was to bring to people's attention that Santo didn't become a figure of the past when he moved to Italy, that he's continuing to perform and record, and to find out if anyone has more information about him.
It was to discuss Santo Farina, not Johnny Farina, who has been discussed many times in the past.
Now let's get back to Santo... |

As Dave said, my mentioning of the Rascals came from Eddie who was a former member, as was Gene Cornish who played some gigs with one of the Farina Brothers, I can't say which one.
Wally, Why should I drop the name out of the blue?
I could have said I ran across this because I was looking for something different. Anyway, the tone of the discussions should not become so rough here. It's early in the morning here, and I'm off for work now. _________________ Fender Kingman, Sierra Crown D-10, Evans Amplifier, Soup Cube. |
