Hello, folks.

On Sunday April 27, Doug Boggs and the Cowboy Jazz Band and Buck’s Track Shack are putting on a benefit for the one and only Bobby Bowman in Spring, TX. Music will start around noon and go into the evening. Doug’s band will be the host band. Bobby was a member of the Cowboy Jazz Band for many years. Members of the band include:

Doug Boggs, leader (drummer for Gene Watson throughout the 70’s and 80’s)
Keith Teel, guitar (reknowned east Texas blues and country musician)
Don Lacy, drums (drummer for Jeannie Sealy and Jack Greene)
Craig Schmidt, steel (dancehall legend around south Texas)
Bill Holt (Western Swing Hall of Fame, formerly with Billy Mata)

Also featured with the band are:

Paul Bennett, fiddle
Chuck Crow, piano

Steelers who have committed to perform so far:

Bobby Bowman
Craig Schmidt
Jody Cameron
Junior Knight
Mike Brinkmeyer
Brian Thomas
Herb Steiner

Artists who have committed to perform so far:

Doug Boggs
Jeff Woolsey
Liz Talley
Tel-Stars
Louie Crappito
Randy Cornor
Amber Digby
Gary P. Nunn

Many more guests will be sitting in throughout the day. The night will be capped off with all the steelers playing along with Bobby.

Cover charge is $15 and includes BBQ meal. You can’t go anywhere and hear this much talent in one place for this price. You will NOT be disappointed.

Auction items will include autographed paintings, firearms, and much more. All proceeds go to help Bobby’s medical costs.

We hope you can come out and support Bobby. Looking forward to seeing you there!

This is great and very deserving for Bobby! Will it be held at the Track Shack or another location? We would like to post it on our website also. Please let us know how we can help.

God bless.

It will be at the Track Shack. Their website does not reflect that calendar change yet.
We are playing there tonight, so I will get the very latest from Doug and Buck.

Also, I heard the music would be outside. Should people bring lawn chairs?

It is a large covered pavilion. They have tables and chairs, but since we might have a really large crowd, I would highly recommend bringing lawn chairs. And you could always use a steel stool in a pinch... Mr. Green

I will echo what my old friend Bill H. says. This will be a wonderful event! I just came off the road with Gary P. Nunn this weekend and he told me he'd definitely be part of the benefit for Bowman, whom he's known for years.

I urge all steel players and brethren, if within length of your cable tow, to make it to this very worthy happening. I'll be donating courses, CDs, and other stuff to the auction, for sure.

I really hate that I am going to miss this event. At the April Katy Jam I got a chance to say hello to Bobby, and made plans on attending the benefit. I later learned my gig schedule had me in two places Sunday 27th. I hope all goes well, because I know the music is going to be great!

A really great event for the recognition of a most deserving musician.
Would love to attend, but am in the middle of a move, and it's a long ways away.

My heart will be there.

Well, I've taken enough meds and pain pills to sink a battle ship. haha! Very Happy But, if I didn't do that, I wouldn't stand a chance of being there.
With a little help, I can do something that resembles walking. I'm not sure as to being able to play my guitar, but, I'm taking it just in case.
I am without words to express my appreciation to everyone.
I think this is my first bebefit for me and I know that I don't know how to act. Just be my self I guess.
Thanks and may God bless everyone.

I just got home. Had to leave early, but it was a huge success. Bobby made an emotional appearance. Huge overflow crowd with many top bands performing. Too many steel players to name.

What a great day. Had lots of fun and got to see lots of friends. We had to leave about 8pm but still a good crowd. It was good to hear Bobby play with Jody and Herb again. I have many fond memories of Jody and Bobby playing together. Thanks to all who came out and to my RCC buddies that came over to dance and donate.

Here's some video for those that couldn't attend... I'll have more as time permits. Bobby will get a full copy to do with what he pleases.
