Pussycat was a band from Holland, there biggest hit was "Mississippi". It featured steel, played by a band member. What's his name?
But here I think the player is a different one?
Could it be Lloyd Greene?

Steel guitar on the song Missisippi was played by studio musician Frans Doolaard.

On most clips back than, he played on a Sho-Bud Maverick, the model with the vinyl covering.
Frans Doolaard himself had a few steel guitars that he built himself.

The steel player was Johan Theunissen playing on a Framus pedal steel.

Yes, on the clip you see Johan who is playbacking. You are actually hearing Frans Doolaard.

Thanks Marco, he had me fooled.
But I like the tone, it sounds well.

Is Frans still playing?

Was it really a pedal steel on "Mississippi"? Sounds more like a lap steel to me.

Somewhere I have a video clip from a live performance from BBC's Top of the Pops back in 1976 when the song was a big hit; the guitar player was doing the steel part on regular guitar with a slide if I remember correctly. Not 100 % identical to the recording, but close enough.

BTW, Toni Willé had (or has) a terrific voice for country!

Frans could sound country, hawaiian, pop or jazz.

I still have this LP "Frans van Oirschot & Frans Doolaert - The Golden Strings of Hawaii".
Frans Doolaert had a modern "trebly" sound and Frans van Oirschot had a more traditional sound.
Frans van Oirschot played with the Kilima Hawaiians after Frans Doolaert left in 1964.

In the video I don't see any pedals or rods. He is using bar slants. The Steel is a Framus 2000. I do think the Video is pre recorded.
