A few weeks ago we forum folk were talking about C6th knee levers and I asked about the advantages of having a knee lowering the 4th string a half step as opposed to having a knee raising the 5th string a half to achieve the same note. Gary Lee offered to send me a cassette tape of himself playing and showing me specificly how he uses these changes and why he thinks one way is better than the other. He played 4 or 5 beautiful balleds on the "talk tape" and then explained his use of the pedals and knees. Gary Lee plays with alot of Curly Chalker influence and I was very impressed with his great tone, his intunation and also his generousity. He did this all for free. Gary Lee Gimble, thank you very much. Don McClellan

I got a "talk tape" from GLG and I will second the motion... plays well and is helpful, with dry sense of humour

Gary came out one night on one of my bass gigs when I had hired Paul Vendemmia to play steel. Gary sat in on three songs, I was tempted to give up, but instead am going to make him give me lessons!! Pity that poor fool, I'm gonna drive him nuts!!!

Yes, Gary is a good guy and a good picker as well...always evident to help a fellow steeler! Someday, I hope we can get together over a '61 Bordeaux, or perhaps a fine vintage Port.

Donny, you have an open invitation to my home. We'll pick and then browse through my cellar. Is a St. Emilion OK? My 17 year old helped himself to my ports, needless to say, the tip of my foot had a good workout.

What are you waiting for Chris, an invitation?

Mis en bouteilles au chateau? A Chateau Magdelaine would do nicely! Gary, I might just take you up on that offer in a couple of weeks.

Sheesh! let me know when, I'll pick both of your brains at once!! I don't have any really good wine, but I have some decent Pinot Noir I can bring along.
