Hi All,

I have a very old violin that my Dad gave me when I was 9 yrs old. I am now 56 and it was about 100 yrs old when I got it.
Pop had it appraised in 1975 by a man named James R. Lee from Shreveport La. He placed the date of manufacture between 1850 and 1900. And it is in the original case. I have a bow that would be worth a small fortune if it hadn't been broken long ago...
Anyway, I am thinking about selling it mainly because I don't play anymore, and It seems a shame to just keep it in the closet when someone may could put it to good use as it was intended. I'm also needing a little shot of cash to help get over a bad year of business.
I really need to have it looked at by a local professional that could help pinpoint a fair value for it. If you could point me to someone that would not charge too much to have it appraised, please let me know. It's not in perfect condition, but I was always told it had a beautiful tone.
Thanks
