Sharp eyes, James! Did you also notice the ad says "Melltone", but the nameplate says "Mellotone"? Also, Mellotone (a copyrigthted name) is a pretty famous name in grille cloth, and that may cause the builder a legal problem, due to the tie-in with musical equipment.

One of the oldest dodges on Ebay is when a dealer claims to not know anything about the subject (and therefore feels free to not mention the details that a person needs to make an informed decision such as 'it does not work', etc.)

But when an expert (the guy built this steel!) does not show the most important pictures---the undersides---I'm going to figure there is a reason. He can't claim he doesn't know these pictures are essential.

Edited at Jimmy Hudsons request to
remove his copyrighted photograph . . .

The photo you have of the Mellotone guitar is
copyrighted by me. I would ask you to remove
it from your post. I own Mellotone Custom Guitars
and the copyrights to all the photos and product
lines I build.

It's an obstacle delusion!

The man says:
The best Pedal Steel Guitars on the planet!!!!!!

You can't say that on the internet if it's not true.

could have at least put the legs on the end of the cabinet, instead of making it look even more aesthetically unpleasant.

What is illegal is taking a guitar, putting your sticker on it and calling it yours.

Actually that's not illegal. At one time it was common practice for distributors to put their names on the instruments that they sold. Just look at all the lap steels sold by the big chain stores during the 40s and 50s. Even Fender put their logo on pedal steels made by Sho-Bud. Agreed they put the job out to the Sho-Bud workshop.
It's fraudulent to build a guitar and then put a Fender label on it, but it's not fruadulent to buy a Fender guitar and put your own label on it.

There are quite a few similarities to the Fessenden Six Shooter.
