Having a bit of shopping fun and wanted to give a george l a try on my Lashley II. I have an E-66 on a wood neck guitar that sounds fantastic, but that guitar is darker sounding. I like to have some twang, but not to the point of being obnoxious. I play through tube amps and prefer that old sound. That said, does the 10-1 have a bit of sweet highs like the E-66? I've heard examples and it seems to. I just wanted to get some input. Yes, I know tone is subjective, but I don't want a pickup that's going to flub out through my twin.
I love my single coils I have for it, but they buzz at some venues and sessions. I know about it being in the hands, but I'm looking for some general advice. I've seen comparison threads but I was hoping someone had a Lashley.

I'd stay away from the E-66. It seems to have a soul filter, making the steel sound like Tommy Jackson's fiddle; sweet tone, lacking expression.
But that's my opinion, counter by the fact that they sell a lot of them.

| After some fiddling around and checking the forum I put a 10-1 on the E9 and E-66 on the C6. It sounds great. I'm a single coil guy, but these pickups are sure smooth. The 10-1 is not flubby through my twin and is super quiet. I'd give it a shot, I sure am happy. |

That 10-1 is going to be real tough to top with anything else.....just my opinion. I was encouraged to try them a few years back even though I had already been using dash-5's since 1984. I was indeed in for a treat. Those 10-1's are "emotional"!!!
