I have always treasured the time I spent with Reece. He built my beautiful guitar for which I an deeply grateful. He demonstrated what a steel guitar can do in the right hands.

What a lousy way to start what should be a joyous day. Reece was so helpful when I was looking for my first PSG. I called him to ask questions and he spent many hours guiding me. He would even call me to see how I was coming with choosing a guitar. I told him of a few brands I was considering, and had never had a bad word to say about any of them and didn't try to pressure me to buy MSA. I ended up buying a ZB, and he so graciously congratulated me on buying a fine guitar. It takes a special man to help someone out like that.

I am sitting here shedding a tear for our fallen brother. My thoughts go out to his family, friends, and everyone in the steel guitar world whether you knew him or not. We just lost one of the best.

I am so very sorry to hear about this. I first talked to Reece in 1975 and met him in 1986. I counted him and Teresa to be some of my dearest friends.

The family is in my prayers.

I will be eternally grateful for the chance to be Reece's friend and student.

One of the best people I've ever known.

He and Teresa always treated everyone around them with grace and kindness.

He will always be my hero

Requiescat in Pace, my friend

This is bad news for sure. Maurice was a great friend of mine. I even recorded one of my best CDs with Maurice. He helped me in so many ways with life's problems. He was one great person!!! What a loss.

My "Out Of Nowhere" CD with Maurice was one of his many JAZZ CDs. If any one wants a copy go to my website jimstahlhut.com get my address and send me $5 to cover shipping and handling and the CD will be no charge. I'm doing this for my buddy Reece.

Barbara and I will sure miss you Maurice.

So sorry to hear this news. My condolences to Reece's family. Like so many others that have gone before, there will be a huge void in the steel community without him... The first time I met Reece was in 1978 or 79, he was here in Lubbock with Ray Price.. He was so nice to me and played great! I'v always admired him as a person and player..

Such sad news. Our community has lost an icon, but for many of us, this is personal. Those of us who were privileged to know him have lost a friend.

R.I.P. Reece. It has been an honor to have known you.

"No downers here man...." that's what Reece shared with me in our last phone call after I had learned of his illness in January. His walk with our Lord Jesus was a good one and it's obvious he is an inspiration to countless many. I take comfort in these words now more than ever and am thankful that Jesus had a room specially prepared and waiting. Reece will live on in our hearts forevermore. Reece, thanks for being you man! Blessings to all...
