We will all miss you, Reece. We already do. I guess I'll carry the sack for you now. Only Reece would know what that means, and he would smile.

The Steel Guitar world mourns once more for the loss of one of the Giants in the music business.. His talent was boundless- A great instrumentalist, a great band leader, a great Steel Guitar builder, a great session player, but above all ,the greatest Christian gentleman I ever met. My family and I mourn and pray for those of his family and fellow musicians he had to leave behind. We will all miss him greatly. May he rest in peace-

Its so sad to hear this news......Reece was a dear friend to me and our family and a major reason I pursued learning Jazz, He was truly a steel guitar pioneer. His explorations earned him the "legendary" tag.
I will miss that smile. Love and prayers go out to Teresa and the family.

What a sad day to hear of Reese;s passing. I never met the man, but I bought my first REAL steel from him, and I talked with him many times when he was building my steel. My condolences to Teresa and family. God bless.

I am so proud to say that Reece was my friend, my one and only steel guitar teacher, and most importantly my brother in Christ. I will always treasure every minute I was able to spend with him. He is a true musical legend and one of the most kind, thoughtful, and loving people I have ever known. I am sure the Lord is very proud of you, Reece, and so am I. My prayer is that He will comfort Teresa and the entire Anderson family during this sad time.

Although I knew that Maurice had gone to difficult times heath wise lately, it is hard to believe to have lost this friend, this teacher, this mentor, this creator, fantastic musician and entrepreneur so suddenly.

His is missed already, but he is one who will live on thru the legacy he left in so many ways with so many.

My condolences to his beautiful wife Teresa, his lovely mother and his family.

Respectfully, J-D. Sauser

I can't believe this. I talked with reece several times on the phone, and in person. The highlight of knowing reece was when he called me from his Hotel room after being inducted to the steel guitar hall of fame. Had planned on being there, but i to was ill at the time. This is so sad, a cut above the rest player, and just a nice person. Prayers go out to the family.

Such a huge loss to all he touched!

While thinking back to the time I spent with Reece and knowing what a monster player & teacher he was. Remembering all he taught me about steel guitar and actually kept me playing at a time I was ready to throw in the towel.....I must say that the man as a great person, inspiration & friend, far outshadowed his musical ability.

If I could hold on to only 1 thing
I learned from Reece it would be the example he set as a great human being! I hope to carry a part of that with me through the remainder of my life!

Reece & Teresa touched my family in a way no one else ever has! Our most sincere condolences go out to all his family & closest friends.....we share the loss with you!

I look forward to seeing him in Heaven one day!!

Great player - arguably one of the 2 or 3 best to ever lay hands on the instrument really. In my dealings with him that go back to 1973 he was always the nicest, most gracious man you could imagine. I spent almost 20 years of my life sitting behind MSA guitars.

I found out about this from Johnny Cox on Facebook.
This is such sad news for our steel guitar community. Reece was always very nice to me, and I considered him one of the all time great innovators. May his music and creations live on forever. In the mean time, I will look forward to seeing him again one day in Heaven.
Floosie and I will be praying for Teresa and the family.

The United States, and the world-wide steel-guitar community, have lost a national living treasure.

A repository of information, innovation and in-depth knowledge of both the instrument itself as well as the history of the instrument and those who play it. Unique, irreplaceable, a trail-blazer and an example to us all of how a good life should be lived. We are all grateful for the wonderful gifts he gave us.

To Reece's family and many, many friends, I send my sincerest condolences.

Farewell and RIP.

Just heard about this - I am so saddened.
I still play my 1979 MSA U-12; Reece called me at home shortly after I bought it new (not even sure how he knew my number), just to ask how I liked it. And even just a couple years ago, he still personally answered an e-mail from me.
What a giant he was. May God grant him rest eternal, comfort to his family.
