Hi all,
I'm selling my 1997 Carter D-10 8+7. It has Wallace TrueTone pickups, it was upgraded at the factory to have Carter BCT technology, it's presently about 1" over-height and has absolutely no issues, apart from the odd little scratch from being used at live gigs. Only reason for selling is, that I don't play out anymore and simply don't need it.
Final price reduction to 2400€ + shipping.
Ole

Hi Ole
I noticed that the Carter logo is a newer type that's been used from around 2004. Have you replaced the sticker or is it a newer guitar?
See you in Dublin?

Hi Peter,
Good to hear from you!
I have to say that I don't know about the logo - I bought the guitar in 2005 and I certainly haven't changed it.
According to the serial number, it should be a 1997 and before I bought it, I asked the Carter folks if they could confirm, that it had been upgraded at the factory to having the BCT system and they did - I still have the mail with their confirmation.
The only things I have done to it, was installing a liftkit and some extra pulls, all with original parts bought from Carter. At the same time I bought an original toolkit and manual, which of course also comes with the guitar.
I sure hope to be able to attend Dublin this year, but it depends largely on funds - money's a little tight.
Say hello to Mette and I hope to see you both!

How do you like the True Tone pickups compared to the slandered George L's |

Paul,
This guitar came with these pick'ups already installed and I've never played a steel with George L's pick'ups, so I'm not really qualified to answer that question.
I can say though, that I also have an old Emmons original, with original pick'ups on it and the difference between the basic sound of those two guitars isn't really all that big - that's with ME playing them, mind you! (Puts on flame suit, ducks under cover and all that!) (The Emmons is BLACK, so cut me some SLACK )
Seriously: Let's not start a war over this, the two guitars just have many of the same basic characteristics in their sounds! (or is that TONE?)
