I have several questions in general.
Does a lady singer who is being sexually harassed think about or care if the guy is talented or not?
When a person is standing before a judge fighting for his/her children does talent matter to the children or the judge?
Are we suppose to automatically give someone a pass on bad behavior based on talent? |

I don't know Rusty, but heard the name just this week.
A producer running a project through one of the studios I work with up here in the Detroit area called me to do some session work, I explained that I do most of my work remotely on my home system and send the steel overdubs over to the studios for mixing. That seemed fine with him.
The next thing I heard was the owner of the studio told me that said producer had brought in Rusty to do the sessions live instead. So that's where I heard his name, he is obviously still doing some things up here in Detroit/Ann Arbor. I have not met Rusty but thought I would pass it along. _________________ www.johnlangmusic.com

it's nice to hear that some people still value the 'in person' approach to business, as opposed to the faceless nameless internet connect of impersonality that has been infecting our species. |

Exactly what I'd been thinking, but a disproportionate number of posters on here seemed to find his remarks amusing. _________________ Roger Rettig - Emmons D10s, Quilter TT-12, B-bender Teles and old Martins.

I can safely say that I'm without that particular fault; crass and vulgar in the extreme. _________________ Roger Rettig - Emmons D10s, Quilter TT-12, B-bender Teles and old Martins.

Glad to hear our friend Rusty is still with us. A couple of memorable moments....
The late Woody Ledford played staff guitar on most of the steel shows in the southeast and was a very reserved and quiet but awesome player. On stage at one of our shows, he actually jumped to his feet with excitement at Rusty's playing! For anyone that knew Woody, that's saying a lot!
Three years ago at the TSGA, I walked out of the bar on the way to bed about 1:30 AM Sunday morning and heard music coming from the Mullen Room. I don't know how long they had been at it, but Rusty and Terry Bethel were playing with Jim Hartley on drums and Johnny Cox on bass. Cox handed me the bass and got a steel. He and Rusty finally stopped at 6:00 AM, thankfully. They wore Hartley and me out!!! I'd love to do that again some time. _________________ Bill Cunningham

Bill, Rusty was staying with Tony Howard, just south of Dayton for a spell last year. Tony had some gigs in the local area and Rusty was sitting in with him. I caught one of Tony's shows in Franklin Ohio, this past fall. Myself and another steel player Greg Wisecup sat in awe as rusty played all parts on his Jackson, Steel, Guitar and Fiddle... He's truley gifted. By the way, every time I've met him or seen him, he has been as nice as anyone. Not the over obnoxious person that is being talked about here in a few threads. Is he confident, yes... He has every right to be. About the other... I have no knowledge of that. At least not first hand. We have all been crazy, I'll not cast any stones. And I noticed you didn't either. Be well friend... |

$1500. a gig....is not too much, don't forget, he is the headliner and he has to pay his backup band..he is not playing three chord stuff so the backup has to be rehearsed and know what they are doing. |
