Hello. Available material is specific about the use and tuning of the the first three (A B and C pedals) but I can't find anything on the other 5 on an 8 pedal PSG. I'm getting a D10 ShoBud Pro II Custom with 8 pedals and need to know so I can get the most out of it. I think the ABC are for the E9 neck. Are the rest for the C6? Any pointing in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for reading this.

The C6 pedals are generally known by number, not name.
P4 raises strings 4 and 8 from A to B
This pedal is unfortunately nearly obsolete, but has some cool uses. Some use it as an inverse P6, lowering 2 and raising 6
P5 raises 10 to D, 9 to F# and lowers 5 to F# (if you use a 1st string G, it usually raises that to G#). Because it often gets used together with P7, many people put it on a knee, but still call it P5.
P6 raises string 2 to F and lowers 6 to Eb
P7 raises 3 to D and 4 to B
P8 lowers 10 to A and 9 to E while raising 7 to C#. If you use a 1st string D, many raise it to Eb

I always wondered what those pedals were for, I thought they were just spare parts... Very Happy

Actually, putting them to the fullest good use may have to wait for another lifetime for me.......

Hey Lane! When I bought my Carter, I had Bud change P4 to raise both C's to C#'s. Then I get the 1st inversion of the C chord at the 3rd fret with pedals 4 and 5, and the 2nd inversion at the 7th fret with pedal 6. Since I have a D on my first string, the chord with the 4 and 5 pedals has an E on the 2nd string - good for Western Swing. - Jack

When I got my Carter it had the two low strings of P5 on a center knee lever. The two high strings on P5 are still on P5. G note on the top string. I'm new to C6 also so wondering why these pulls are split. Thoughts? The rest of the pedals are all "standard".

No idea. I have P5 on LKR
If I had to put any part of P5 on a knee, leaving some on a pedal, I'd put 9 and 10 on the floor, and upper strings on the knee. There's often a need for combining the fifth string P5 with P7. You're still double-footing

Interesting. So if one chooses to put P5 in a lever, what goes on the P5 on the floor to replace it?

What some do is put an inverse P6.
What _I_ did was move everything else over, with P8 raising the upper two C strings to C#, so I can hit P5 and P8 together to have the old high G C6 three frets up.
It was Bruce Zumsteg that suggested that.
As a student and friend of Mike Auldridge, I originally had P8 on LKR (Tommy showed that to Mike, and that's what he had: Mike also suggested an asymmetric RKL that lowers 4 to G# and 8 to G), but Bruce suggested I swap

Thanks Lane. Guess I have some thinking to do. May move P4 to E9 and scoot the existing P4 to the right. Then I can put the other two P5 pulls on the knee lever. I'd still have a full C6 to work with that way and I'd get a 4x5 setup on E9. Actually it would be a 5x5 as I have P9 on the E9 neck.
