found on Amazon - a lap steel shaped like a surf board. Has anyone tried this guitar? Seems a bit overpriced, but unique.

I haven't tried one yet, but I don't think it'll float me, I'm a big boy! Don't know weather to use cold water wax or tropical!?
Looks like a P90 pup and a long scale too, I like it!

A console steel w/P90 for $230 is overpriced? If they had an 8 str. version for under $300 I'd get one just out of curiousity. If it sucked I'd remove the strings and wax it down and take it into the surf, as it would fit my dog.

Yea but Ron, you can surf with a 2x4 when a board is not available !

One day coming back from the hardware store ...with a few 2x4s on my car roof surfbaord rack, ...you asked "how was the surf" ! Very Happy

Where does the 26" scale info come from; I can't find it on the internet.

Does anyone know who makes this and what their contacts are; I would like to communicate with them.

Thank You,
Best Wishes,

If I remember right, those were 'long boards' you were toting, so anything is possible!

I seen one at Elderly's last week when I drove down there. It was interesting. Looked about on par with those Reocording King lap steels (The new ones). I didn't play it, as I was on a mission to pick out a Fender tele.

b0b, I tried one out at the Tempe Guitar Center, I was less than impressed. Looks kinda cool, though.

It looks like there is a new version. An eight string is pictured, but the specs say six.

Must be following the ol' slide rule: "If you want to surf, you gotta make waves". :0)

It doesn't appear in the latest Saga dealer catalog and a search didn't bring it up on the Saga site. Maybe too many people realized it was overpriced. Mahalo lists Davitt & Hanser as the USA distributor, but D&H was bought out by Jam Industries and the D&H website hasn't worked for more than a year. Morrell sells a lot of Saga instruments, maybe they still have one.
