I just saw the new Power Bar from Sho-Pro Guitars . Jeff has spent a lot of time getting the various stages of polishing and heavey duty chrome plating on this bar . Seems like just the right size and weight . The chrome is not just for looks , it is very heavy duty . I think it is $59. JF

Thanks Jerry, After lots of research, I believe we have a very nice bar. We have them polished before chroming, and another treatment after the chroming. This is not "cosmetic chroming", it is "hardened chrome". Until now, I didn't know the difference. Only a 10 string availabe right now.

Although, I don't see this is on their site. Only the George L bar.

Thanks Richard, You're right. Jerry just asked, what I was working on when he stopped by, and I showed the new bar to him. It should be on the site soon.

Jeff, Have you thought about finishing some of your bars in black chrome. I think that would be a cool looking bar.

Do you think the "black" would sound "better" as in a black steel? ))) JF

How do these differ from the BJS or Pearse frozen bars?

These are not the best pics but here you go.

The bar on the right is the Power Bar. Left old Dunlap Stainless.

I'm sure Jeff will have more info on construction.

Dear Friends,

I just got my new Power Bar from The great folks (Jeff and Gloria) at Show Pro Custom steel guitars.

The bar is my favorite size and weight: 7/8 diameter and 3-3/8 in length. This is the most standard dimension.

There is no break at the bullet tip, which is traditionally round with no point (again my preference). The transition point is perfect and flawless (no break, just smooth transition). The heel of the bar is very gently eased with a slight but very smooth chamfer at the heel. The heel end is recessed slightly and is flat, with the ultra cool Show Pro script logo deeply engraved in the heel end.

It is a hard-chrome bar. Hard chrome is more expensive than standard chrome and lasts much much longer. it is very slick and flawless, and works well with both nickel and Stainless strings.

Its great! and looks great with my custom Show-Pro Guitar

Another great product from Jeff and Gloria, and Show Pro.

Best to all

John Widgren
