Hello from George MR.Boards - We have expanded our Do It Your Self Lap Steel Kits and Parts for sale

$120.00usd EACH -- includes shipping within USA.

I've invested the big bucks to make available some really nice body blanks. You can set them up as a - 6 - 7 - 8 string.

These are long enough for you to go 22.5" - 24.5" - 25" Scale Length.

These 1st 4 pieces are AAA Clear Poplar - The Pocket is 3/4 " deep, the over all thickness is 1-1/4". It can be a stand alone lap steel , and you can bond this to another plank to make your own console. The wood will take paint colors and tints well, and is easy to drill and sand. You can use a hand drill with a 10mm bit to drill for the tuners.

George you are a very inventive person. You are an entreprenur par excellance. If there is a way to skin the cat you will find it. Congrats on a great idea.
