the chart on the carter site goes to 2900's/1981...does anyone know how late one in the 3800's might have been made? still with old rounded pedals? when did they start making the 'original' with the legrande style pedals? what year did the legrande start?

Hi Chris, Ron built mine in 1983, and it has
the LaGrand pedals on it, but they are black.
Body is Stone Gray and the serial number is 6585
This is a SD12 P/P, and I think it's one of
last SD12 P/P's that Ron built. I played it
for 1 year, then quit playing. I got burned out
working a day job, and playing 5 or 6 nights a week.
It was never taken out of the case since then,
until about a month ago. What a great guitar it is.

Hey Chris,
Yes mine is almost like new, but I've got to clean the case.
Just give a call to Emmoms, and give them the Serial Number.
Ron or Rebecca can tell you when it was made, and who bought it.

Hi Ron,
Are you saying you are the proud owner of my favorite Emmon's SD12P/P.
That has to be one of the best finest that Ron senior had ever built.
He made 2 for me then, but I sold the black one, this was my favorite.
After not touching a steel since 1984, I wanted to try and play it again,
but old age and an accident 3 years ago said 12 strings were too many,
so I sold it and started relearning on a SD10. I'm getting better now.

Yes, Carl... I am the proud new owner!

And can I tell ya, I just love this guitar.
It plays so easy & the tone is just perfect.
I just got it Wednesday from Scott Appleton. He lives about 8 hours up north from me. We met halfway & did a swap deal, & I'm a very HAPPY camper. Smile

Yep, you're right... Mr. Ron L. really showed his magic on this one.
Plays like butta, sounds like Heaven & it's also VERY clean. The mica & undercarriage still look new. I don't even notice any cabinet drop, that I can detect. I like the narrower string spacing, too. Seems to be helping me be a bit more accurate with my picking, grips, etc...

I have a '76 S-10, that I love too. But I think I even like this SD-12 even more... (Hard for me to believe, cuz that '76 is wonderful!) This 12 is easier to play all around, & I do like those 2 extra strings on the bottom. Nice & FAT down there. Wink

So Glad to hear your doing better. Keep that trend up!

Best Regards,
Smile
