Here's my 82 Zum, ordered it from Bruce at the 81 ISGC. It was originally 7+7 B6/E9, it's now tuned to E6/9 Zane Beck tuning and it's had a few other subtle tweaks, can you spot them?

LOL Yep Chris, lighter weight = higher performance right? I bet this blue one is from the same sheet of blue mica as yours was?
I had Paul Redmond convert this to keyless a couple of years ago. In addition to the Kline style keyless tuners which Paul machined from scratch he also designed and made up new bellcranks as I wanted to change it to steel pull rods as part of this process.

Indeed it is as I've had first hand, exposure. This Zum is too nice to be played, she belongs in Jay's living room as a permanent fixture, garnishing other pieces of living wear....

Chris,
I have more shots of the underside if you would like me to send them to you, don't want to bore the rest of the forumites with it. Works well, Paul Redmond is a top rate thinker and machinist, he made the pictured bell cranks and rods for my project but sure he could do more should anyone be interested.
The only pics I currently have on my computer for the blond laquer/hybrid D-10 are the ones I took for the avatar, it is a gorgeous guitar and sounds and plays really well. In between the S-12 and the blond D-10 I had another D-10 Zum which my and Gary Lee's good friend Paul Vendemia had dubbed the worlds ugliest Zum. In fact he hated it so much he bought it from me and put a whole new body on it!!!! Maybe he will post a before and after pic of it for our education??

It was summer, at Mainframe here in Nashville. Ronny Light happened to be there with his camera.

Just got this old workhorse last week. I'm really impressed with the craftsmanship and design intelligence that went into this instrument. Built to play well, and built to last.

Hey Hook, nice guitar. Does it get the sound Randy Beavers gets on his "My Favorite Things" CD? I,ve worn out that CD and can't get over the growly gritty tone I hear. Makes me almost see the changer fingers vibrating against the cabinet. Don D
