Really nice Marvin. Do you know who owns this Dodd guitar?
Both my Emmons are 8&9. Had a passing thought about splitting the RKR but did not know why.

If I had it to do over again I would have that. Bruce talked me out of it and it is fine. But I use it a lot and really see the wisdom in Tommy's choice to have it built like that.

I tell ya, I bought a one of a kind Zum, 8 levers, 5 pedals, I won't say who I bought it from out of respect of the previous owner.
All I can say is it's the best sounding and functional steel I've ever played. I'm in heaven!!!

Here's my latest addition to my herd - just got this from Billy Murdoch. D10 8 + 8. Quite a nice guitar. Photos courtesy of Billy.

Billy just wasn't playing any C6th and felt that it was a waste. He does have a very nice SD10 Zum that helps take away some of the pain of selling this one.

The guitar is an early model, made in 1980. The engineering is so good for the time, its no wonder that Mr Zumsteg is held in such high regard. Tonally it is very nice, but I still have to place my push-pull in front of it for tone.

I've finally solved (!!!) the age-old question: "Which sounds better, a black guitar or a white guitar?"

Black 2002 Zum U-12, 8 & 5, Trutone
White 2007 Zum U-12, 8&5, Trutone
Hilton pedal
Webb 614-e

Bruce and I are the only ones who know the answer...unfortunately, I have been sworn to secrecy!javascript:emoticon('Very Happy')

I didn't know about the red burl when I got my SD10 hybrid. That's really nice. Mines a looker with the Blackstone and chrome pin stripes and logos, but it needs good lighting to shine. That red burl shines on it's own.

Billy has told me of the guitar's previous heritage. I hope to do it justice. It is in good condition for a 31 year old instrument.

Roger, you're a funny dude. I still remember that steel guitar song you wrote. I hope I get to see you sing it again some day. Might see you at Snyder,Tx if ya'll go there again this year.
(At least they were kind enough not to use the used stuff to wrap your guitar).
