Hello All!
Is anyone doing Jerry Byrd tracks? If so, what styles are you using, and, what songs are you using them for? I've spoken to PG, and they're unfamiliar with Jerry Byrd (Gasp!). Anyone help?

Hi Al,
I am also a Jerry Byrd fan. I've done several of his tunes using BIAB. Here's a link to my most recent effort: http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=191663 I usually favor less BIAB instrumentation, but I always enjoy tracks with just the swing groove using "Real" brush drums and the acoustic bass guitar.

Yes, there are a several good BIAB styles for Byrd tunes. Look for styles with brushes and acoustic bass, swing styles, etc. (as Chuck said). I use BIAB bass and drums and I mix the other instruments way back... and then add "real" rhythm guitar or uke in the final mix.

Here are some examples:

Valco Swing

The One Rose

How D'Ya Do

Tenderly

Song of the Islands

The Moon of Manakoora

Thank you both; Chuck and Doug. I'll do just that. I may have to get a couple more styles......
