Martin, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful instruments I've seen in my over 60 years playing. The finish is superb. If it sounds as good as it looks heaven has descended on earth. Great job and exquisite workmanship. Congratulations and I would probably kill to own it.

I just got back from Martin's house and it is absolutley a beautiful piece of workmanship.
No, I have not tried to play it yet because Martin needs to adjust the pull rods so the pulls will be right. 
I may be able to sit and try it tomorrow and fine tune it with my Stobo-Flip.

The steel is not too heavy for me.
It weighs about 25 pounds or less at most.
This is because all the parts are either Tiger striped Maple or Aluminum. Even the legs are aluminum.
All the fasteners are Staineless Steel and the stops have nylon caps on the ends so as not to marr the blue flocking.
So there is nothing that will rust on this steel.
All the moving parts have bushings or ball bearings.
There was no expense made to cheapen this custom made steel for me.
Martin has to be congratulated for making this one-of-a-kind steel for me.
I will cherish this steel like no other steel that I have.

When I set out to have this steel built that is one of my main request that I wanted it to to be horizontal to the body.
Because I have very short legs it had to be set lower than on regular steels.
When Martin and I talked about it I asked if it could have a quick disconnect so that it could be taken off to fit in the case.
Martin came up with a great design where he has a headed screw that can come off in seconds and a set screw so I can angle it up or down from it's original position.
There isn't much we left out in this design.
A massed produced steel would never have the things which are incorporated in this steel.

Martin, I am speechless. You are a true craftsman.
Boy, did I ever luck out getting you as a mentor and adviser on my project last year.
Don, obviously you chose the right builder for your custom made guitar. I am sure you will treat it well and it will play beautiful music for you.

Leaving aside the musical aspect, which I'm not qualified to judge - that is a beautiful bit of engineering.
Makes my Carter Starter look like a toy - which I suppose it is really

Say, is that a George L 10-5? I assume that's what the switch is for.

| It has an Alumitone pickup. The switch and knob are for a tone control like Sho-Bud. |
