Anyone still play an MSA Superslide? I haven't seen any postings on any in awhile, but Bobbe had one in his shop year before last when I was down there, and those are some nice guitars. |

I've been playing mine for over a year now. It is a great instrument. I usually play it through a '61 Fender Bassman borrowed from a friend. Sounds incredible. I just converted it from a 10 to a 12 string. It was real simple to change it over. |

Does anyone have any clips or videos? They were the hot thing for a long time but there was little to no info on how they actually sound. |

Hello Isaac:
Funny.....I bought mine with 10 strings.....bought the conversion kit and changed it to 12. It was just too many strings for me to stare at...sooooo....I put it back to 10 (minus the chromatics). Maybe one day I can graduate back to 12. I love it. The sound and sustain are wonderful. Everyone that has any interest in non-pedal should have one. I got mine from (where else!) Bobbe Seymour's Steel Guitar Nashville. |

Probably one of the finest built non pedal steel ever.
Very much in the quality of high end electric guitars... like a Gibson.
Great modern tone.

The MSA SuperSlide is an incredible guitar. The engineering and craftsmanship are second to none. I have a black wide neck set up as a wide spaced 10 string. 12 strings were just too much for me also. I also switched the pickup out for one of Rick Aiello's "Fountain" units. The stock George L is fine, but I'm an Aiello fan to the bone. I've got it tuned to Tom Morrell's 10 string E13 with a B on the bottom. Being an old guitar player I find this tuning quite intuitive. I recently retired my career job and plan to spend quite a bit of time learning this tuning inside out.
Back to the MSA, my suggestion to you would be........ BUY IT! You will not be disappointed. |

Oh yes,
I have one of the first. It is 12 string tuned C6 .
Tone, sustain...WOW
The string spacing matches my MSA SU12. Easy to go from one to the other. |

Thanks Kenny- THey did a nice white pearl paint job and I added the pearl knobs and the 2nd pick guard (on the near side where you actually neeeed one!) I also put a Wallace PU on it which gave it some guts.

Kenny,
Here is one that came from Bobbe's store, a Mystic Gold S-8. I've had it a couple years now, great axe!

About 3 1/2 years ago, after seeing the "Super Slide-Off" dvd from Bobbe Seymour, I was hooked. My retirement present to myself was a single neck 12 string with Reece's tuning. For a start, the twelve strings were too much and I reduced it to ten strings, same tuning but dropping the lowest two and starting with A. After a year or so, I found that I also wanted Don Helms' E tuning and so I traded in the 12 stringer Superslide directly with MSA for a double neck 10 / 8. They gave me full value on the trade for the 12. I just had to pay the difference.
I love the guitar, and the MSA folks (including Reece) were the absolute nicest to deal with. |

This is a little off topic, but since Terry brought it up:Can anyone write out Tommy Morrells' 10 string E13 tuning for me? I've been able to find an 8str. tuning but had no luck on finding a 10str. tuning. Thanx>dg _________________ http://www.myspace.com/davidagriffin |

Andy Volk has this wonderful little booklet that he sells titled "Slide Rules" listing 6, 8, and 10 string tunings. One of the 10 string tunings that he lists is Tom Morrell's E13 tuning.
He lists it as the following: (lo to hi)
E D E F# G# B C# E F# G#
I highly recommend his booklet. It talks about string guages as well. Order a copy from him....you will not be disappointed. |
