Since we're stretching the boundaries a bit, I'll stretch just a little more, into the realm of Sacred Steel.

Sacred Steel history in the Greater Detroit area is as rich as any in the world, with a bounty of incredible musicians, including among others, Bishop Ronnie P. Hall, Calvin Cooke, and Bishop Henry Wayne White.

Toledo, OH steeler Del Ray Grace and his wife, Kelli, have devoted their lives to preserving the legacy and tradition of this exquisite art. You can learn more about Sacred Steel at the Sacred Strings Records Inc. website: http://www.sacredstrings.com/Index.html

Nelson Wynn. I beieve he's from South Bend or thereabouts.

Nelson Wynn had or maybe still has a music store in Merrillville Indiana. I was working up there in 2000 and bought a 73 MSA from him. He was also teaching at the time.

Don't forget Don Curtis....or the Harlin Bros.

Yes, J. D. ("Jay" D.) Harlin was the Brothers' steel guitarist. (They were based in downtown Indianapolis.)

Let me thro in a few names that I know from that area. not all big time players, but all were good for their time. Elmer Hober-Vernon Cornwall-Virg. Ward-Lenny Kindley-Dick Miller-Ronny Dailey-Chuck Drew-Bernie Scott-Buddy Williams, and yes me--there are more I'm sure, but this is all that comes to mind. I played in that area from 53-till 77--Larry
