Al,
It sure has been a long time, I miss the days when you and Shot would come to the factory and I could listen to war stories from you and Dean Porter. I sure miss him. I got to play music with him for about 15 years, such a thrill. So good to hear from you.

Russ Wever,
Good to hear from you Russ, The first time I took a Sho-Bud booth to St Louis you were the first steel player I got to see. I think that was 1980. Sure was sad to hear about Bobby Caldwell.
In answer to your question serial # 14400 the only thing I can find is Model 6166 Black, Shipped 3/30/79 to Quigly Music in Kansas City Mo.

I have always suspected that Pro 3 guitars existed before 1975 and now with Gene's help I have the facts to prove it. My guitar has the rounded front single raise and lower

Jack,
The only info I have is Model # 6164 built 8/22/74 by it looks like P.N.
on the production record. Don't know who this is. It shipped 8/28/74 to
Gretsch Cinn.
Not much but that is what I found.
Gene

Thanks Gene for your help. your information is much appreciated by all of us Sho Bud fans

Hi Gene,

Thanks for the info. Strange about that though. I'll take some pictures and send them to you if that's ok. It looks like an LDG.

Michael

Hello Mr. Haugh, your appearance on the forum is like finding the Rosetta Stone!
Thanks so much for your efforts. We all appreciate it.

I was wondering what you could tell me about serial number 5798. I am particularly interested in the original color, as I have strong reason to believe mine was refinished at some point (it's purple now).

Your information is fantastic and super valuable! Thanks!

How about a red Professional ser. no. 7702 ?

The guitar was rack and barrel undercarriage, round front cabinet, and late-60's pickups. Duane Marrs thought it might be a custom guitar since the neck selector and coil tap switches are between the necks instead of the right endplate.

Herb Steiner,
Herb, Bad news! I do not have access to serial number 7702. What I have in my information is a note that states - ( numbers missing between 7000 and 8110 are the origional numbers used on Sho-Bud in the beginning and are kept in a file folder) I do not have access to that file folder.

Ryan,
Serial # 5798 = Model - 6148 built 6/26/74 by B.S., checked by Yasu, shipped 6/28/74 to Gretsch. I believe as you do that if the color is Purple then it has been repainted. For some reason they didn't indicate the color with the information I have, however the dominate color of the 6148 was red.
Hope this is enough.
