Jon was a steel player and guitarist, as well as a great electronics repairman. Tonecraft Amp repair in Musical Exchange in Austin was the place to take your vintage tube amps and your SS amps.
He was my friend for over 20 years and the friend to many musicians in the Centeral Texas area. None better or more honest. He will be greatly missed by many.

Curtis, I'm very sorry to hear about your friend. I don't think I ever met him. Will pray for his family. It was good to see you Monday night.

Curtis,

I am devastated. Had he been sick? When did he pass? Any funeral info?
Jon was a great friend. He's worked on my Fender amps for the last 10 years. A major loss to the Austin music community.
Vaya con Dios, Amigo.

Allen,
Severice is today, Saturday, at 3:00 Pm Weed-Corley-Fish in the 3100 block of North Lamar.
If you need any parts you need to get them quick before they close out the shop. I believe Larry or Boomer are watching the store for now.
The musicians in Austin have really lost a treasure.

It was a beautiful service for a beautiful person (and it was SRO, fittingly). Jon made you feel special each time you walked in the shop or called him on the phone. He truly loved his clients and the instruments and amps used to make music. There's a big hole in our musical community that can never be filled.
Man, I sure miss him already. I wish all the best for Merlyn, Walter and all those who were closest to him.
