Sad news indeed. This is from their website...

Our founder George L. Lewis is a seasoned veteran in our musical heritage. He is a Pearl Harbor survivor of the USS West Virginia. He has also been part owner in business such as GHS String Co. and Sho-bud Steel Guitar Co. For over 30 years he has dedicated his skills to promoting our fine line of Cables, Pickups, Strings and Accessories.

George was a great man, a great American, a wonderful businessman, a Brother and a True and Trusted Friend.

May the Supreme Architect of the Universe lead him through that undiscovered land from whose bourn no traveler returns.

RIP George.

Very sad news, George was a dear friend and had many health issues for sometime. I first met him when he worked for Shot at the Sho-Bud store. He was a lot of fun to be around. He built some great products for steel guitarists and he will be missed. Rest in peace dear friend, Bobby

My condolences to the Lewis family. I have known George since his days at Sho-Bud. George is the one that taught me how to palm block. I've used George L's strings and cable since they were introduced.

I knew George wa in ill health these last several years but it's still a shock to hear of his passing.

I never personally met George but it sure appears he was a fine gentleman. His contributions to the steel guitar community are appreciated. The one thing that stood out to me was that George was a Pearl Harbor survivor. His service to our country increases an appreciation for our freedom. May God comfort the family and friends during this difficult time of sorrow.

I am saddened to hear of Mr. Lewis' passing as well.

I always enjoyed a short visit with him at the St. Louis convention.

In his absence the last few years I always inquired of the girls as to his well being and asked them to wish him and Mona the best. Another icon of the industry who leaves a huge void with his passing.

My condolences to the Lewis family and all his close friends.

George and I didn't get to see each other a lot during the years, but when we did, we shared a lot of life and living together. He, his family and staff have been very special friends to me and Toni. Their service and personal interest to us has always been the best,,,top shelf.
May God rest Georges' soul and bring comfort to Mona, Kim, Lisa, his whole family, friends and staff.
Thanks for the good times George.
BB and Toni.
