I am planning on attending. These guys are awesome and I really enjoyed it the first time I went.
Some directions:
quote:
just bear to the right at the initial
split of I-65 North bound and I-40 east, and follow I-40 E. The first exit is 2nd and 4th
Ave. Turn left at 2nd Ave. Turn left on Lindsley, which is the first street
beyond the interstate and its frontage roads. Lindsley is only a block or so
long, and the club is obviously one block on the left after turning

I played at the Exit/In on Tuesday, November 13th. I WAS hoping to catch a portion of the Players' set but alas, the Players start at 9:30 PM and we started at 10. Dang! Maybe next time....
BTW: The night before Jerry Douglas, The Whites, and others were performing for a benefit for Uncle Josh Graves. Missed that one, too! Found out about it too late to attend! Does anyone know how Josh is doing these days? He sounded great on his last album "Sultan of Slide".
Keep on pickin'!
Glenn

Mind blowing music! These 5 players: Mason, Franklin, Rhodes, Bayers, Hobbs are best.
To my surprise, the place was not packed at all. I had the best seat in the house in balcony sitting with Mr. and Mrs Franklin, Theresa and Paul's son Darrell. In fact, we were the only ones in the balcony! These folks are the nicest people you could ever meet, as many of you know. It was great visiting with them.
Brent not only plays incredible guitar, but is quite a soulful singer. Brent mainly played that gray Tele, but also played a red Strat and an acoustic/electric.
Paul played several impossible solos mostly on the C6. Paul went beyond the stratosphere when he soloed the slower, bluesy portion of "Don't Try this at Home." It made Brent hollar out. Paul played his silver/blue Franklin that he usually plays.
Michael Rhodes on bass has a ton of energy. He even ended one of his solos with a karate kick!
Eddie Bayers on drums never seems to get tired or ever miss a beat.
John Hobbs on keyboards can do it all from great piano work, funky keyboard sounds, and jazz organ.
It is amazing how tight they are even though they have not rehearsed in a while. They did some complicated arrangements and were right together with the twining and everything.
Some of the songs I can remember:
All Geared Up
Since I Fell For You (Brent sang and sang the notes during his guitar solo!)
Just the Two of Us (Brent singing)
Hot Wired (even faster than the recording!)
Blowin' Smoke
First Rule of Thumb
My Little Ballerina
A Jerry Reed/Chet tune in tribute of Chet that was something.
Don't Try this at Home
and more...
Paul and Brent were kind enough to autograph my copy of Brent's "Hot Wired" CD jewel case.
I told Paul they should name the group, "The Next Level" because that is what they are. Paul in his genuine humble way said they should be called "Underground something."
They are going to play there next Tuesday and then probably not play out for a couple of months. You do not want to miss it.
There is a $10 cover charge.
Thanks for keeping us posted, Theresa! |

Thanks, Theresa, for keeping us informed.
I can't believe my luck - I'm driving in to Nashville today, in order to leave at dawn tomorrow to go to Arkansas for a few dates, so I'll miss the 'Players' AGAIN!!! (I'm hoping the 'Time Jumpers' will be at the 'Station Inn' tonight, though.)
Do you know when their next '3rd & Lindlsey' date will be? Then, if I'm not working, I'll just make the drive from NC - I saw them months ago and it was inspirational! |

Why couldn't someone record this? With this lineup, surely, there'd b enough interest? |

They do have a cd out and I'm sure it's available at the show and it's a good way to support their efforts. A must see if your going to Nashville.
