My swing band, Beats Walkin', will be recording a live CD on Friday evening, Dec. 7th, from 9pm till midnight, in center city, Philly, and we'd love for any of you who are close enough to come out to join us for this very special evening.

It's been over 4 years since our debut CD, "Western Omelette" was released, and the band has grown in many ways since those early days. Building on our roots of western swing, we've added a lot of big-band swing tunes to the lineup as well, including such favorites as "Lady Be Good", "Honeysuckle Rose", "Tuxedo Junction", "Stompin' at the Savoy" and others. In addition, we've added some real be-bop to the repertoire, such as Sonny Rollins' classic "Oleo" and Charlie Parker's "Scrapple from the Apple".

Come meet our new lineup of personnel too, all veteran swing-meisters who will have ya smilin' all the way from Austin to Boston:

Wendi Bourne, Vocals and guitar
Chuck Lindsey, Vocals and drums
Bob Lewis, Upright bass, vocals
Jim Cohen, Pedal steel guitar, vocals
Troy Corley, Tenor saxophone

... and special guest from Boston, MA: Joel Glassman, fiddle & mandolin

Below are the details of where and when. We hope to see some of you there!

Where: Turtle Recording Studios
225 Quarry Street (just off 3rd St, between Race & Arch)
Philadelphia (Olde City), PA
Tel: 215-625-9725

When: Friday evening, Dec. 7, 2001
(Arrive anytime between 9pm and Midnite;
stay as long as you like)

What else?: This event is part of "First Friday" in Olde City. So, all the local art galleries will be open late that evening,
with wine & cheese, entertainment, etc. So stay with us for awhile then go wander up and down the street for some great art and diversion! Bring the spouse and make an evening of it.

Weather permitting and if we can get an extra driver that would be worth 4 hours of vacation and some time in Atlantic City

Jim: Do you suppose Charlie Parker ever got out into the Pennsylvania Dutch country and ate some scrapple ? It's a cool title at any rate and that list is nice collection of music if I ever heard one. Sorry, I'm too far away but if I lived in Reading or Hamburg I'd make it down there to hear this.

Regards, Paul

Jim,

Will try to make it with wife and friends. If not able to, hope you knock 'em dead and get a great recording. Best of luck to you, Pal.

P.S. any chance you'd have that road case with you?

Regards,
HH

Roy-Boy, if you were there I guarantee you wouldn't just be watching. I'd love to have you on the recording! Hopefully another time we'll get to do that. Thanks for the well-wishes.
