I'm pleased to announce that there has been a real outpouring of generosity and donations have come from all over the world. From the smallest donation to the largest donation, all have delivered a heartfelt message to Tony.
We have raised $1,770 so far. That's a good sum of money, but I don't want to discourage anyone from giving, because these medical procedures are expensive as can be (cat scans, etc.) and for an uninsured, innocent victim, that's a heavy burden he shouldn't have to bear.
Thanks brothers and sisters. Let's keep it going. _________________ http://www.steelinstruction.com/

Here is an observation. Over a thousand people viewed this post, if each of you gave 5 bucks that would be a heck of a donation to send Tony and say alot about this forum and what it can do for each other. |

Not really.... it's been viewed over a thousand times. Personally I've probably visited this thread 15-20 times to check updates etc..

Tony says he is feeling a little bit better each day, and his spirits are elevated by all the support from his steel guitar brothers.
Mike, Tony is very fortunate to have a good friend like you.
If things keep going the way they are - between the PayPal donations, mailed in donations, and the May 10 benefit that Wayne Hancock is holding at The Continental Club in Austin TX - Tony's medical expenses might just about get covered.
That's not to say we should ease up - a catscan alone costs thousands of $$, and then there are all the procedures, doctor visits and meds etc.
If I had to guess what the total would be, I'd say about $10K - maybe more. |

We have raised nearly $2,000 for Tony Locke. I'm still hoping for some more donations, but I'm sending another check to our friend today--this one for $1500. Thanks again everyone! _________________ http://www.steelinstruction.com/

happy to help out, a donation is coming from San Francisco, heading Tony's way. my band played a gig with him and Wayne a few months ago, he was a super nice guy talking to before and after the show. |

Yes, thanks for doing all you're doing Mike.
Tony, do the best you can to heal up and push that guy out of your head. Your Magnatone needs you and we need you, too.

I'm going to repeat this message here for the sake of folks who are not members. I've also updated the total of contributions I've received as of 5/5, 7:00 pm:
To everyone here at the SGF,
There has been a tremendous outpouring of support for Tony from folks all over the world, and people have made note of the Steel Guitar Forum's community and the financial and emotional support Tony has received from us. I've spoken to Tony several times in the past week and he's starting to get out and about again and finally got his Magnatone T8 back. Tony has expressed his sincere gratitude for all the love shown his way. I'm forwarding him all the information pertaining to the donations.
The amount of Paypal donations I've received to date is $2510. I've also received some cash contributions for $150. The only bummer with Paypal is that they take a cut, which thus far has amounted to approx $100. Tony has also received some donations directly, as well.
I have to say, in spite of the horrible events that put Tony in this situation, I'm very proud (but not surprised) at the generosity and compassion everyone has shown.
Sincerely,
Mike Neer _________________ http://www.steelinstruction.com/
