I just uploaded a new page to my site. It's a lesson in Pentatonics on E9. I posted this material here on the forum some time ago. Check out the new page HERE

Northampton, MA is NOT just around the corner from Moville, Ia but thanks to Doug, Ricky, Smiley, Bengt, b0b, and all the rest of contributors to this Forum- wanna be's, novices, intermediates, even pro's, benefit from info available here. I heartily applaud the unselfish work these guys make available almost daily! On another note-there are Telethons televised yearly in order to benefit the handicapped-but to ME, guys like Doug Beaumier probably don't even suspect their work is treasured by people who have been struck down by crippling diseases. A better therapy could not be found for me, and I suspect, many others. I just want you to know what it means to me, Doug, and how much I appreciate it. Thank you.

Cairo,

Thank you for those kind words. The internet and the Steel Forum in particular have helped to bring us all together to share ideas. I've been a Forum member for nearly 4 years, and I still learn something new about the steel guitar every time I log on. Have a great day! db

Doug, Do you need pentatonic scales if you already know how much your pentatonic weighs?
And, what is the average weight of a pentatonic? A small one? A large one?
I visited the Pentatonic in washington D.C. once. (had five walls as I remember).

Conseualo Darvis,the great.

Yes Doug, I was being silly just to bump this up for you but I think I should state that I really have a lot of respect for you and what your doing. However I sure wish you were down here working with me at Steel Guitar Nashville. We need you,but then so do the great folks in New England. You, Sam W.,Bill H. well, I better not get started on names, too many and all are wonderful folks and great players! only wish I could see all of you more often.

Your friend in the south.

My favorite pentatonic position in where you lower your E's to D# and lower strings 2 and 9 to C#. This gives you a C major or A minor pentatonic at the 1st (or 13th) fret. No pedaling required - just pick the strings up and down the scale.

Thanks Bobbe!

Bobby, I like that position too, and it's included in my tab, but without the knee lever that you mentioned. I have to push pedal A to get that note

The phrase less is more comes to mind with the pentatonics. A simple 5 note scale, but it blends so smoothly with the relative chord changes.

Slick, what does a henway? 'bout three pounds!
All this equals one more bump, which is good because this is a good educational thread.
Keep after it Douggie B.

A "pentatonic" is like the old "hairtonic" except it is used guys with five sided heads! "Hey ED, are you still using that greasy penta-tonic on your head"? (he later changed to "qudra-tonic" when he lost one side of he head whilst gazing into a "heads-up display" in the new Cadillac "auto driver" optioned transport machine.
In other words, BUMP!!
