Happy New Year!

Does anyone have experience with Missing Link Audio in Georgia?
https://www.mlapedals.com/store/The-HYBRID-JBL-D120-p268027069

They have a lot to offer but seem to specialize in JBL D120’s, and offer a hybrid speaker which is a Peavey Black Widow reconed as a D120, which they claim sounds better than a stock D120, but they are catering to guitar players. It looks interesting though…hard to find JBLs , Altecs and good recones with a quick turnaround.

Thanks

Dave,

I recone both JBL and Black Widow Speakers and sell reconed/restored JBL Alnico Speakers. (D120, K120, D130, K130, D140),etc. and refurbished/modified Black Widow speakers.
I can convert the JBL 2200 series pro sound speakers to be equivalent to the D series instrument speakers by installing the D-series cone kits.
I have been doing the JBL/Black widow hybrid setup lately and have been getting good feedback from the steel players using them.
I also do Altec recones/rebuilds, Electro Voice recones/rebuilds and most any other musical instrument speaker recone.

I can usually get a reconed speaker returned in about 2 weeks.

Private message me for more information if you wish.

Thanks
Jeff

Jeff re-coned my JBL-K120, K130 and Fender 1964 Bandmaster speakers and all sound wonderful. Fast turn around and great service.

Jeff reconed a blown D130F 8 ohm into a K130 4 ohm so I have a spare to fit my Session 400 or Twin Reverb. The workmanship and sound are great, and I have another orange frame D130F I need to send to him.

Its great to have a resource to keep the JBLs going.

Jeff did my B/W and I've been using it on all gigs since. Works great.
There is also a more local reconer in Colfax, Ca that always advertising on craigslist. I have no experience nor do I know anyone that used him but you might check out this dude.

I have referred customers to MLA to purchase reconed speakers in the past - one of them was sent to me to install into a cabinet and it was really great. One of the better sounding recone jobs I have heard (which means they probably took the time to break the speaker in)

I have not tried their hybrid speaker, but I heard good things about them.

Last note on them - the owner was working on making a new production K series speaker a few years ago but I have not heard anything from them in a while. I was supposed to be on the list to hear the prototype but I never got my hands on it
