I wanted to share Larry's obituary that I found today on the internet:

Quote:
Larry Dennis Strawn, 60, of Golden Valley was born April 11, 1948, and passed away on Friday, Dec. 12, 2008.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Dec. 18, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home, 1701 Sycamore Ave., Kingman.

Services will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 19, at Sutton, followed by interment at the Chloride Cemetery.

He is survived by his father, Glen E. Strawn of Valiant, Okla.; and his wife, Ginger J. Strawn of Golden Valley. Also, his five children, Scott Bowling of Oklahoma, Shannan Miller of Broken Arrow, Okla.; Chris Strawn of Oklahoma, Nikki Jones of Fort Bragg, N.C., and Robert Strawn of Golden Valley survive him, and four stepchildren, Chris Gathings, Al Gollihar, Jodie Gollihar and Sara Davidson, all of Kingman. He had 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Larry served in the U.S. Navy from 1967 to 1971 where he learned his trade of welding.

Larry came from Oklahoma to Arizona in 1993 and lived in Chloride while working on the construction of U.S. Route 93, eventually moving to Golden Valley.

He went to work for Horizon Precast Welding as the shop foreman and then worked for Mineral Park at the time of his death.

His love of music will be remembered.

He played music with several local bands but is best remembered playing steel guitar in his band "Gunsmoke."

Donna,
Thanks for Posting. Larry's funeral was really heartwarming. There were family members, friends, and many pickers that Larry had been band mates with. I was asked to be a paul bearer by Ginger and I humbly accepted. A steel player many of you know named Jimmy Hill was also a paul bearer. Jimmy was a great friend of Larry's and was there with him as he passed on. Jimmy is well known on the west coast and around here as well. Gene Pennington, spoke a tearful tribute to his friend and former band mate causing many a tear to be shed. We escorted him to his final resting place in Cloride Arizona, about 26 miles from Kingman. Then we raised a toast to his spirit.
