Dickerson lap steel questions

I am looking at a Dickerson 6 string lap steel to purchase. Serial number is 46231. Anyone have an opinion on the quality of Dickerson? Also, based on the serial number what is the year of manufacture?

In 1946 or 47, I bought a brand new Dickerson with matching amp for about $39.00. It was a grey and black mother of toilet seat. It wasn't much of a steel, but got me hooked on the steel, and I am still here. It was simular to the Artisan steel sold today at Musicians Friend. Back then there were a lot of companys marketing this type of steel all in different colors and shapes of the mother of toilet seat plastic.If the amp comes with it, it is worth more than without it, which isn't very much Jim
