This morning I received a PM from one of our Forum Brothers asking about a Knee Lever Flag Mod I did a few years back. Although I no longer make and sell them, the information is still valid and these flags very useful. Attached by Velcro and removable, they are very handy.

Hi....on my old Sho-Bud 1977 universal S-12 with tear drop knee levers, I always felt the LKL and RKR caught my knee bone with the "tear drop" part. My good Pal Richard Burton rigged these "flags" up for me by sawing off the rounded part and adding these. Problem sorted

| Dick, I have a blue Derby SD-10 that has flags that look like your pictures. I bought it from a guy near Findlay Ohio. They work well and are quite comfortable. I wonder if they are the ones you made? |

Well Dick....I'm further away from him now. I was living a little closer before. Now it's about 200 miles. He also made a Double lower on the 2nd string for my Carter universal. It's situated just under the LKL back apron and there is just no overshoot on the first lower, and you can fine tune the first lower by just reaching under. He has quite a few steels and his ZB has the lightest pedal action of and ZB's I've tried in years gone by. He's an engineer by trade...clever man

Could be Bill, I think I built about a dozen sets, from Derby to Emmons. Many because of knee discomfort. Never got a complaint that they were uncomfortable. I personally think anyone with just a bit of handy, could build them with the tools they could find in their garage.
I put pictures up a long time ago, so they could have been built by someone else. I do not remember seeing them before I built a set. |

This is my non-destructive solution (apart from two small holes in the back of the lever)
