I have a 1952 National D-8 Grand Console in pretty decent shape that I'd like to sell. Does any one know what a good price would be to ask for it? It's in good working order with the original pot(s) and switch. The tuner buttons have been replaced as they were all cracked badly or missing when I got the guitar but they now have buttons from Stewart/Macdonald on them. The tuners themselves are original. The only modification is that I've added a 1/4" phone jack to the guitar but I still have the old screw on type plug that was the original. I don't want to ship it but if I sold it it'd have to be local or I could deliver it at Scotty's Convention. Also, I have no case for it. Here's some shots of it. The first two are of the guitar when I first got it and the second two are after it was put back in playing shape. It's got a great authentic sound.........JH in Va.

Elderly has a couple National D8's for sale. It will give you an idea of what they are going for. Of course, being a dealer, they are a little higher than what you might find them on, say, eBay for.

The Vintage Guitar Price Guide lists the National Grand Console as worth between $500 and $700 in "excellent" condition. A quick search online shows prices ranging from $600 to $2000. _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel

If you like the sound, that's all that really matters! Hang on to it! That l©©ks like a winner to me! Sometime you'll want one and the price will be through the roof and out of sight! _________________ <marquee> Go~Daddy~Go, (No), Go, It's your Break Time</marquee> L8R, jb

I have one with 4 legs, circa '57 or '58 and am wondering how much value the legs would add to it?
Thanks,

A similar National D-8 with case (and one non-original control knob), went for $615.55 on eBay 2 weeks ago. Had the white bridge & tuner covers and fretboard. |
