I just saw on the evening news that Susan Boyle's new CD that was just released has sold 701,000 copies the first week, surpassing Madonna,Beyonce, and Lady Gaga first week sales. The media was amazed by this fact.I'm not;the lady can sing and picks very tasteful selections to record. She doesn't have a gimmick and she even has a real name.JMHO

She's not a bad chanter, but I'm listening to Eva Cassidy singing `My Love Is Like A Red Red Rose` as I read your post. Different class.

Susan has had a complete makeover. Most of all she's got the chops to back it! Smile

She'll be around for a while. I don't care too much for her genre but I sure have a healthy respect for her skills and the quality of her voice. Talk about a diamond in the rough!

This has everything to do with her story and not her music. If you enjoy her, that's great, but there are so many who are better who you'd probably enjoy even more.

As I have said before, it's all about money. She is hot right now because of her story. She is just the opposite of most female vocalists today. Susan has the voice, but not the looks. Looks over voice will win out in this day and time. Her next CD will tell the tale. Jody.

I always thought Patsy was a real looker. She had the looks and voice, which is hard to find in female vocalists today. Jody.

Within just hours of her Idol exposure, someone decided that she absolutely must have a makeover in order to be presentable to the critical public. If ever there was a statement as to the importance of presentation over talent, this was surely it.

Even this fablulous voice needed enhancement in other areas in order to be acceptable. I think this speaks volumes about where entertainment values are.

There will always be a market for this type of music.

She is a Broadway show tune / Cabaret type singer,
it's a nitche, but she will have a comfortable one
to end her days in. And this is her dream come true.

And she's the notoriety to get decent billing press.
She also has the permanent resonant back story of
Ugly Duckling to plain Swan, and believe me there are
more than a few who will always wish their story
was the same, and go see her to live vicariously
as part of it... She is an icon for the unglamourous
masses who feel what she sings and never had the luck...

She's got great pipes and sings with emotion,
that will always have fans. Good on her!
