He's played PSG for a ton of alt-bands: REM, Red House Painters, American Music Club, Jewel, David Byrne and others.
His solo album, Slider, an ambient PSG project, is amazing - I totally love it.
This is really the kind of PSG I totally dig, and this is how I imagine I will be using the instrument.
He is a great inspiration.[/img]

I got Slider from b0b a few months ago and listen to it at least once a week. It shows the versatility of PSGs. Great CD. _________________ Carter S-12U, Sho-Bud LGD (80's), Fender Jazz King, Korg Pandora Toneworks PX4D, Modulus Q6, Ampeg B5R, Lapstick Travel Guitar mod to lapsteel |

You bet....Slider is a very cool LP. Non-traditional steel at it's best. And Bruce is a cool guy.
It's one of my 2 fave non-trad steel LPs...
Dan Dugmore's the Off White Album of Beatle tunes being the other. |

Nice, I'll have to check out that Dan Dugmore album. Never heard of it.
I really hope Kaphan releases more solo albums. I'd love to hear him expand on the already great foundation he's established with Slider. |

Great player with a fabulous touch and a yes, a super person to boot. Stays pretty busy producing and recording. Hopefully there'll be something new from him (steel guitar wise) soon.
Everyone should own a copy of "Slider"- it's beautiful, ethereal music. Definitely NOT the same old, same old!

In the same category of great steel CD's I'd highly recommend my friend Gary Brandin's "The Vanduras." Kind of like early Chris Isaac without vocals.
Say hey, Skip Edwards! _________________ E9 INSTRUCTION

I'm also huge fan of Bruce's! And for something completely different, check out Sasha Matson's album called "Steel Chords". It's a classical album, the first three cuts of which are written for pedal steel, violin, and strings. Doug Livingston is the pedal steel artist on those tracks. Warning: This is not music for the traditionalists...! But - it sure pushes the instrument in new directions!
