Hi BJ,
I am KC4KFC although a tornado took my antenna down and I haven't gotten it back up. I think my interest in amps and tubes and electronics has helped my knowledge of musical amplifiers, etc.

General Class WB6YMK, since 1966. 40 & 15 Meters. Kenwood Transceiver, Inverted "V" Antenna. Very little air time recentley. Too busy trying to learn PSG.

I am EX general class, W5DVO, K3FFZ, ZD8JES (Ascension Island). I also used BV1USG when I was stationed in Taipei Taiwan in the early 60's and ran the Air Force base MARS Radio Station (AI8AIR).
I accidentally let my license expire and never took the tests again. I did the same thing with a 2nd Class FCC Radiotelephone license at the time.
There was an identical thread a year or two ago, but I couldn't find the thread. |

I didn't get to pick LMS they issued it to me. I am an extra class but never changed my call. I used to run a lot of CW and when I passed my extra, I would have recieved AA5A?. Decided to keep N5LMS because it had much more swing to it on CW.

Duane, I started out as a CW (Morse Code) Radio Operator in the Air Force and had a speed key (bug) certificate so the Morse Code part was a piece of cake for me (You had to be able to send and receive at least 25 WPM to be eligible to qualify for a speed key certificate). I had to do a lot of electronics studying when I took the General Class test in 1961.
I was also a Tech School Instructor, at Keesler AFB, in the Radio Operator department. |

Its been a lot of years without a rig but my callsign is G6CWP, I only owned a 2mtr set. I took the RAE after getting 'busted' with an illegal 27mhz AM CB radio on the way to one of my gigs. The police spotted my base loaded antenna on the van. It used to be fun when CB was illegal!
I also got caught for making whisky..'moonshine' ! That got me a front page story in the paper! I remember having to go to court one week after joining coca cola! I told my boss and he couldn't stop laughing.. He told me I could make a better 'still' using some coke gear!
