I invite anyone who's recorded this tune to post their rendition. I'd love to hear different renditions |

The Moon of Manakoora was recorded in 1957 by Jerry and was included in his Hi-Fi Guitar album and now is included in his re-mastered CD of this album titled "HI-FI Steel Guitar" which is currently available. |

Andy-If I can find it on one of my tapes, I'll send it to you. But I am not very organized and didin't write the titles of most songs so I have to play them all through and find the right one.
Frustrating. Of course, I should have numbered the tapes and put the titles on each one on a tablet. But I didn't.
But I am scrounging through them a little every day and writing down what is on them. Some bad and some not so bad.LOL...al

The Jerry Byrd Fan Club http://www.jerrybyrdfanclub.com/ now provides a number of different "slants" on this popular tunes........four to be exact.
They can be found on "the opening page" of the site; then "Jerry's Music" (2 tunes) and lastly on "About Ray".
There are tunes on all three pages; so plez give each of them a listen. Okay?[This message was edited by Ray Montee on 05 August 2006 at 10:55 AM.] [This message was edited by Ray Montee on 05 August 2006 at 11:03 AM.] |

Now working on two different versions of the same song for the opening page of the JBFC.
Have had extreme difficulty trying to get it to come up on the web site........obviously due to my lack of skills and expertise on the 'puter.
I've called in reinforcements and with some luck, the happy vacationer will have us up and running in short order........hopefully! |

Excellent Rick, two brilliant performances my a 'Master'.
I notice that the chords are the definitive ones and that the first and second half of the verses end on the correct notes (3 on the word "ARMS" and 1 on the word 'MORE')
With regard to the second version, I can't say I'm fond of the "Ronnie Ronald" bits, but the Steel Guitar was sublime.

Well, after four days of working at it, I had to let go of Jerry's version of 'Moon of Manakoora' from his olde Decca LP "Hi-Fi Steel Guitar".........
In it's place is a nice version of the same tune with Fred Lowry at the "Whistling Station"...........
I sincerely hope you'll enjoy the various versions.

I must say I'm really enjoyin this thread very much.
Ray, Jerry's version of "Manakoora" is Just beautiful. I've listened to many versions in the past week and there's little parts of each that I really like. |
