Started out with the Emmons setup. Then I bought a steel that had the Day setup. Been playing that way ever since. It feels more natural to me but to each his own.

Myself and Bobby Garrett both had our first pedal steels set up like Emmons. I still have the Emmons set up. Bobby used the Emmons set up his entire career. Jody.

I'm not sure what to call my set up. The pedals are Emmons with a PF pedal at#4 but my E changes are on the right knee. It came that way on my first MSA & it works for me.

Emmons ABC pedal setup. But like Bo, E->Eb on the right knee - RKL. I guess that's the standard "Sho Bud" setup? I switched from LKR when I started playing a lot of universal. I've gotten to the point where I can't live without the smooth F->Eb change obtained by smoothly feathering in the E-Eb as I let up on F->E.

I play an emmons set up but, i find myself sometimes playing some a-b licks on b-c pedals and it seems natural to roll the ankle that direction - i am seriously considering switching to a day set up before i get to far along in the learning process.

Emmons ABC but I, too, have always played and really must have the "Sho-Bud" lever setup with E lowers on RKL for that smooth transition between the raise and lower.

I use the Day setup on the floor pedals, but I basically put my knee lever changes wherever I could when I felt I needed them, so they are kind of unorthodox.
