The United States Navy Band 'Country Current' is anticipating an opening for a steel guitarist in October 2007. Starting salary is 41K with all military health and dental benefits. If you are (or know of someone who is) between the ages of 18-34, male or female, please let me know and I will put them in touch with the point of contact at the United States Navy Band in Washington DC.

Thank you!

A few years ago at one of our steel fellowship's Saturday jam sessions in Millington , TN , we had the distinct pleasure of one of the Navy Band's steel guitarist sit in and jam with a number of the guys present. Not only on steel , but banj@ , bass , and guitar. Very nice fellow and versatile on whatever he picked up. I', sorry to say i can't recall his name , but he was playing on an MSA steel. A couple of years before he came through another young man with the Navy Band came in and also did a great job on his p/p Emmons. Man, they train um good.
Gary , reckon they'd enlist me , i'm between 60 & 62 . Cool

when i was in the 10th mountain division army band in the early 90's, "country current" came to the upstate new york area and played a show - great great band - later, the steeler named brad corbin (if i remember right) and another from the band whose name escapes me at the moment came over to the barracks and jammed for a bit - great players - great guys -i think the navy band system is an excellent opportunity for anyone -oh also if anyone is in washington state, the navy band has an awesome scary jazz guitar player who is the nco in charge of the fleet band there - jim robo is his name - a real treat to hear!! too bad i am now too old and too fat and too crappy of a steel player - i would jump at the chance

Jim Robo was my guitar instructor when I went to the Armed Forces School of Music. He is from Boston, Mass originally.

He is a fantastic Jazz Guitarist that sounds a lot like Pat Martino.

He would remember me if you ever caught him live and mentioned my name.

I played Guitar in the US Army Band for a long time.

Chuck, when did you go to the School of Music?

What branch were you in?

I started there in Sept 1987 and graduated March 1988.

Jim Robo is an E9 in Seattle at Navy Band Northwest now.
