that looks like a varitaion of open E. dont know how that would work tho.
there's no e in Duluth... they brag that it's colder by the lake.
actually, it is sometimes warmer there in the winter, but definately cooler in the summer.
big bodies of water do that. |

As a seven string open E tuning, that should sound very good. You might want to open it up chordally by adding a seventh note (D) or sixth note (C#) somewhere in that tuning.

Andy Iona uses that exact tuning on quite a bit of stuff. It has an interesting sound in the bass. Derrick Mau and I talked about this variation.
Oops I didn't recognize the 7 strings. Andy used E G# B G# B E.

That is a good tuning. It is easy to retune if you want an A, high bass, tuning. Just crank up the B's to C# and the G#'s to A.
I do it all the time.

| Ed-- if you'll be getting an 8-string lap, you could add a 2nd string C# to your tuning for sixth chords and minors. Then if you wanted some jazzier voicings for Western swing etc. you could lose the low E and add a 6th-string D for one version of E13: G#BDEG#BC#E. -Steve |

That 7-string (E)-Tuning is what Shot Jackson used on his Sho-Bro and it sounded unique on all his recordings. It should sound just as good on an Electric Lap-Steel! If you go to ( -strings, I'd probably stick a (D) in the 5th. position: E–G#–B–D–E–G#–B–E or 'most likely' go to an E9 with: E–B–D–E–F#–G#–B–E
