As christians where do we draw the line as to where we play and where we dont play . IN OTHER WORDS DO ALL THE PLACES WE PLAY GIVE GLORY AND HONOR TO OUR LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST ?Just a thought . Warren

| Are we just a light only in the lit places? I have found that the opportunity to play in the church are few and far between and very "clicky" to say the least. I don't particularly desire to play in church, although I do from time to time. I also know that some cannot go into the dark places because they have not been called to that. I think you have to listen to your heart and go where you are led by the Holy Spirit. I would not quit being a plumber or doctor or whatever to those in need just because I became a Christian, but I do struggle somewhat with the material I select or what is requested for my gigs. Is not the earth and the fullness thereof His? Go into ALL the world and preach the gospel.. and if necessary, use words. We are living epistles... our lives are our testimonies, we are His body, so just go where you are led by Him. I know He will speak to each of us in a way we can understand as to what we are and are not to do. I sing my song "Wild Oats" in those places. It's all about reaping and sowing and those folks listen! Anyway, that is what I believe about it. Not that anyone will agree! |

I recently saw Robert Randolph playing Jerry Garcia covers in a bar in a 1/2 christian 1/2 Jewish part of town....................
I wonder what Buddy Emmons thinks of this, and what his amp settings will be when he does think about this.............. |

I think it's definitely important to discuss whether BE would use Just Intonation or Equal Temperment in such a situation, and whether his instrument cables were George L's or soldered. |

As I see it this debate has been going on since the 16th century, or longer. I am not a Christian, thus do not have a stake in the final outcome.
Paul (Saul) drew the line in the sand with the observation frequently paraphrased Justification by grace through faith.
So, I guess it is in your mind and heart; not where you pick, what you drink, or who you hang out with.
But like I said, this has been a debate amongst y'all for a long time.

Indeed, but the real crux is whether your H Bar C shirt is 100% rayon, or of mixed (i.e. 80/20 cotton poly blend) fabric

There are many choices in this world that are individiual, and personal, and we all have to live within the directions provided by our own moral compass.
For what it's worth, some of the "darkest" honky-tonks I've played were populated with folks who mostly considered themselves to be very righteous.
And some of the most honest, joyful, peaceful, and positive folks have been found at clubs and festivals where wine and herbs were flowing freely.
Just my own experience, of course. |
