| We got the new red Zum Encore late yesterday at the post office. An elderly friend, [well over 8o,] asked if I would take care of ordering the guitar for her which I did early in the year. I took it over this morning and set it up for her and both she and I are really impressed with the guitar. It sounds and works great. It was a pleasure to deal with Doug too. Sorry I didn't take a camera with me to her place. I will probably go back over in a couple of days after I repair her volume pedal, and take a couple of pics then. The Encore is definitly a quality steel. |

My black Encore (#008) continues to give sterling service and has worked hard throughout the Summer. It's very stable and stays in tune beautifully.
Doug set mine up exactly as I wanted it (Day set-up with the LKV raising 1,2 and 7) and its tone rivals both of my 'professional' guitars to the point where I have no marked preference for any of them (my Emmons, my Carter or the Encore).
Apart, that is, from the obvious advantage of the Zum's extreme light weight - I can lift it with ease which is something I can't say for my 8+9 LeGrande 111!

as roger said, ditto for me. My Stage One is stable, stays in tune and helps prevent back pain and/or ruptures. sounnds great too. only thing i wish it had were sliders to lock the pedalboard to the legs rather than bolts and nuts.

I have an Encore on order!
Do you have the detachable pad on yours?
How does it attach? Do you like it?
The Encore pad looks very simple. A local Encore owner has the Don Blood pad. It is heavy and complicated.
If you can, please attach pictures of the Encore pad and how it works.

I didn't opt for the pad. It's just the same as playing the C-neck, after all. There's nothing to rest your arm on then, is there?

I play a D-10, too. I just thought I would see what the Encore owners think about the detachable pad.
Maybe it would keep my picks from falling off.

Good point, Bud! I will admit that I sometimes find myself bending over to retrieve my picks when I'm sitting behind the Encore!
I also agree with Steve; I'd prefer it to have the slider method of attaching the pedal-bar.

| Bud, My friend opted for the detachable pad. It just has two slots on the back apron to slide it in place. It's also smaller [narrower] than the pad on many SD10s. I've never been a fan of pads and don't have one on my U12, but the one on the Encore is very nice. It suites the guitar. |

I am still in love with my Encore. The only short coming is like Steve says the manner of attaching the pedal board. But who am I complain, I attached the pedal board on my ZB Custom for thirty years with two tiny wing nuts.

George this is a beautiful story mate , to hear that you ordered a guitar for a lady who is over 80 years old, first off I must commend you for doing such a wonderful thing, and secondly to the lady who is playing a pedal steel 80+ years old, wow!!!!

| George, I've had a Zum Encore for around 3 years now and I love it. I wanted a light single neck to use on gigs that I also play six string guitar on and also something with a humbucking p/u to use at recording sessions. I played a Sho Bud Professional for a long time and have been playing an Emmons P/P for the last 10 years. Both of them have great tone and I have to say that I like the tone of the Encore as much. It has its own voice. I think you made a great choice. |

I have had my Encore 2 years and 2 months now and I have nothing bad to say about it. My D10 Zum has been resting in it's case all that time except once two summers ago. That ought to tell you something.

Can't wait for mine to be built. First Guitar since 1982 when I bought my Franklin. Not getting rid of it, but I heard good things about the Encore so after some thinking I got in touch with Doug. Was told April maybe.RS
