Our band "Landon Dodd and The Dancehall Drifters" are located here in North Texas and we play nothing but "Traditional Country".We played the VFW in Denton saturday night and had a ball.We had dancers the whole night and they tipped us like you aint never seen.
I would like to play more of these type venues were traditonal country is welcome,my question is this, have any of you guys played some of these places around Texas where they appreciate good dance music ? I would love to have some names of either the town or the club name or maybe even a contact name and number. Thanks

Wade..
I've been gone from the area for a number of years, but I see where the Elks Lodge in Wichita Falls routinely has Jake Hooker play at their dances. The "Outskirts" routinely has regional artists too. Check the local paper on line -- Times and Record News and they have a listing of clubs under their entertainment section..

I used to play at the Lewisville, & the Irving VFW, both had good crowds & nice sized hall/dancefloors, the Irving stage can be a little claustrophobic. They're both a little hard to find being back off the main roads, give 'em a call & I'm sure they'll give you directions. |

Hi Wade:
Yes, you've been there. The Plano American Legion, by the Tracks. I would love to come hear The Dance Hall Drifters
when you in my neck of the woods.
My friend Bill Simmons got me hooked on the Peavey LTD
over a year ago. Great sounding little amp. Glad to hear yours is working out for you too.
Keep on pickin classic country...... |

Hey Wade
If you know of any good Bass players PLEASE call this number ASAP.
Must be able to follow a female and male vocalist.
Sara Evans-Suds in a Bucket, Patsy Cline-Crazy, Loveless, Haggard, Jones, George Strait-The Chair, Mel Tillis-One more Drink and then I'll go, Dolly-Just a Few Old Memories, Dixie Chicks-I Can't Be Bothered, Empty Glass Etc. Oh and Western Swing and old time shuffels a must.
Backup and Lead vocals also a plus.
The one we had wants to play full time and thats more than we do.We play to have fun and sound good doing it.
We only play Saturday nights 2 times a month and some private partys when booked. Average booking for a 5 pc. is $500.00 or $100.00 ea.
Must be willing and able to practice in Mansfield Texas area, when not playing.
MUST HAVE PLAYED BASS BEFORE FOR SOMEONE ELSES BAND.
Believe it or not we have some who have not try out.
We are a 5 pc band with Steel Guitar (ME).
Jerry and Barbara Ford-Cook have been together for several years and are by far the best Country duet team I have heard since Wynette and Jones.
Please help if you can!
Thanks David Biggers
