Steelers,

Of the sites I've found SO FAR, below is a list that IMHO are the best resources about the history of steel and steelers. Please suggest others.

I'm not talking about the best sites for learning how to play, and please let's not start a big argument about whose site is better.

Bobby Lee's pedal steel pages http://www.b0b.com/

Brad's Page of steel http://www.well.com/user/wellvis/steel.html

Ernie hagar http://perso.wanadoo.fr/rockin.paul/contents.htm

John mcgann http://www.johnmcgann.com/

Rebel's MP3 lye berry http://users.interlinks.net/rebel/steel/steel.html

Walter Stettner http://www.austriansteelguitar.at.tf/

May I suggest The Hawaiian Steel Guitar Association website? In addition to posted music and information, there are many links to other related websites.

I have been accumulating a Steel Guitar Timeline for a while... I need to get some updated links.

Whoops! I forgot to put this one in. This site is where I found out about Jody Carver and found his cuts from the Arthur Godfrey show, which is a show I heard as a kid.

The history of steel is something I'd like to know more about, so I appreciate the timeline. I'm surprised there aren't a lot of books on the history, the way there are on regular guitar. Or maybe the histories are out there and i just haven't found them.

For people new to steel, here is a concise and clear statement about the basics of universal tunings.

For people new to the net (like me) there is a list of important sites (some that I didn't know about and I'm grateful to find them).
