I heard his CD last week. Zona's a pretty darn good singer, has a nice bus, etc. He may be going somewhere in the bidness.

I sent an email to the address that Jody gave. I listened to some clips on the website, and like the style of country. Real stuff, not pop country. I also found out that Byron Gallimore produced several songs on the CD. Byron was at Pride Music back in the early 90's. I met him a few times while working on a publishing deal.He is a very accomplished producer. Good stuff!

Zona is a dear friend of mine. He has a great band and can play anything from swing to hardcore country. Very professional in business. Zona's been doing this for a while so he "gets it".

Zona Jones is from Beaumont Texas and is by profession a lawyer. He was the heir apparent to Mark Chesnutt and Tracy Byrd after they signed with record labels and moved out of local clubs and began touring. His steel player for many years has been Laine Thibodeaux. Laine was raised in Cajun music but plays really good country pedal steel guitar. He played on two albums that I produced. Zona recently had a video on TV (CMT/GAC) and has been known in this area for several years. His bass player the last time I saw him was Lee Blackman (a member of my band in the 70's). Zona puts on a good show and I understand that he is good to work for.

FYI; I asked Zona about the steel opening. He said there is no steel opening.

Marlin -

I was asked to post this on the forum by Zona Jones' sound man/manager Cory Chenoweth...I was approached about this gig but had no interest, so I really have no dog in this hunt. It could be that the "opening" has closed...but I'm certainly not going to speculate about this on a public forum. I don't really know the details or care, I was simply doing what was asked of me by Mr. Chenowith in an effort to help.

Any questions should be addressed through Mr. Chenoweth, whose info. is in the original post.
