a friend of mine in nashville has one he does lots of recording,,,i couldn't tell alot of differance when i hooked a derby through it,,but when i played my gfi ultra through it,,it made a big improvement,,smoothed out the mid range,,made it more silky,that was going direct,,have not heard it going through an amp,,bottom line,i think it depends on the guitar and the pickup,,,just my opinion,,,
