| I received my Black Box today and tried it with my Nashville 112. It was like giving the amp a shot of adrenalin! The muddiness was gone in the midrange and the highs became bell like. I was set to replace the speaker in this amp, but that has become unecessary. Try one, you'll be amazed. |

So Brad, the BB is also effective with an amp like the Peavey 112, which has a separate pedal in/out circuit?
Isn't such a circuit designed to address impedance mismatch? (BTW, I am an electronics illiterate, so go slow!!)

Chris, the issue deals with much more than just impedance matching. There are major differences in sonic qualities that result from using a vacuum tube instead of a transistor. The Black Box not only uses a tube, it also uses some extremely high-quality coupling capacitors as well as hi-grade audiophile resistors. Since it's the first active stage that the pickup "sees", there is a special quality of fidelity and nuance that you just won't get from other, more typical input stages.
