I am looking to pick up parts for "70's Emmons Push Pull guitars. I need things like, original floor pedals and rods, micro pull rod adjust, The do-hickies that the rods go through that are C clipped to the bell cranks, etc. Any help appreciated.

Chris, Talk to Bobbe Seymour. Check out his website for phone #. He's having some of the stuff made by a shop right next door to him.
His ste addr is www.steelguitar.net good luck. I have a 78 P/P and I love it. I had trouble finding parts for mine too. Those that have the parts want you to ship the guitar to them so they can make some $$ on the install too! Bobbe will get you squared away. Tell him I sent you. It won't get you any discount but maybe he'll give you a coffee!!! Later.

Bobbe gets some great wraps on this forum, but I have been emailing him now for months, and still haven't had a satisfactory response re parts I need for my p/p's. A few weeks ago I re-sent my enquiry, and a few days later had a response from the shop. They thanked me, and said that Bobbe was unavailable, but he would respond to me when possible.

I still haven't heard from Bobbe (maybe soon!).

I realise he is a busy boy, but if there is someone else who can supply parts, I would also like to know who they are.

I have also previously contacted Emmons direct, and find that they are slow to respond, but have been able to help on one occasion, On another, I never received a response.

I must add that I have also purchased some non-Emmons items recently from Bobbe (video tapes, CD)and his service was very good.

Can anyone confirm if George Xanthos (Melbourne Aust.) is still around and representing Emmons, or supplying parts for their guitars?

Thanks,
Richard

Chris,

When I tried to contact Bobbe, he got back with me saying that he no longer sells parts for push pulls and for me to go to Mike Cass. I thought this was kind of strange, but that's the way it is. I also put a post up here on the forum, and it seems that those that have parts want to keep them, and the guys that specialise in repairs want to sell them at a premium price. This is why I'm strongly thinking of selling the push pull I just bought and getting another all pull guitar like a Fessy or Derby.

Hope your luck is better than mine.

Well, I have been checking with some repair houses and The prices for these parts are very high alright. However, I have worked on a various vitage items, cars and guitars, and the story is always the same. Pay though the nose for the original parts or find someone to make them. I have a machinest friend that is making most of the parts I need and are difficult to find. Very resonably priced too. Also, I have found many other parts such as, stop collars, bell crank rod, pull wire etc at hobby shops and local hardware stores. But as long as it is undercarrage and works as well as original I am there. The tough parts I need are 2 floor pedals and pedal rods as well as 1 knee vertical lever. Any one got ant suggestions?

If you need Emmons replacement-parts, I have a very good friend in Pa., Tommy Vollmer; who has parts. They might be available from him seperately! You can contact him at: tom_vollmer@msn.com
